Youth and Teen Spring Break Art Classes

Have fun during Spring break making all the art you imagine. Learn to work in wood, leather, and metal. Make jewelry on a 3D printer or create something brand new from recycled materials. At Pratt, working artists/instructors teach in professionally equipped art studios, with plenty of time for one-on-one questions and guidance.

Spring Break Youth From Recycle to Art (Ages 5-12)

Have you ever wondered what could be made from old jewelry, fabric pieces, bottle caps, and mint tins? If you want to make art out of recycled and repurposed everyday items, then this is the class for you. Stretch your creative mind using the elements of art to make one-of-a-kind masterpieces.

Teen Jewelry

Learn the traditional methods of metalsmithing through heating, cutting, and forming a variety of metals. This class offers a basic overview of jewelry fabrication with a focus on soldering with an acetylene/air torch. You will make a ring, a pendant, and more as you learn your way around Pratt's professionally equipped studio. All materials included.

Teen Woodworking: Kumiko

Kumiko is a Japanese art form of fitting intricate pieces of wood into a geometric pattern. Come learn how to make kumiko.  The class will focus on the asanoha pattern using hand tool techniques. There will be the opportunity make a few wall hangings.  All class supplies are included.

Teen Woodworking: Leatherwork and Embossing

In this class you’ll have the opportunity to make a few circular leather containers and a tray. Students will learn two leather sewing stitches and how to emboss leather.  Plus how to use several hand tools to layout and punch diamond shaped holes that are used for sewing. All class supplies are included.

Teen 3D Printing Jewelry

Build your own jewelry using 3D printers! In this class you will learn how transform your ideas into your own printed jewelry. You will cover the basics of 3D printing and metalsmithing. You will make rings or earrings and more as you learn your way around Pratt's professionally equipped studio. All materials included.
