Orca Action Month Kickoff Celebration: Seattle

Join the greater Seattle community for a free event to celebrate the start of Orca Action Month on Sunday, June 4th from 1-4 pm at El Centro de la Raza in South Seattle. This year’s Orca Action Month theme is Lasting Legacies. Through this theme, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act and honor notable Southern Resident orcas who have left a lasting legacy. Storytelling from Nora Nickum author of Superpod; Music by Erika Lundahl, Right as Rain; Education booths from WA Department of Fish & Wildlife, NOAA, Seattle Aquarium, Endangered Species Coalition, Defenders of Wildlife, Washington Conservation Action, The Whale Trail and more; presentations by Jourdan Imani Keith (Seattle Civic Poet), Ken Workman (Duwamish Tribal Councilmember) and kids activities including face painting, chalk art, orca coloring, and crafts.
