11th Annual
Summer Art Camp
Red Ochre Art Studio
Instructors: Sandy Bricel Miller and Kelly Arron
Session I: Full
Session 2, July 15 - 19, 2024: Painting, Collage and Mosaic
Students entering grades 3 - 6
Kids will explore abstraction in art through a variety of activites. Drawing inspiration from major artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Henri Matisse, students will learn about color and form through collage techniques, acrylic paintings inspired by nature, and the creation of beautiful patterns and designs with glass tile mosaics.
Session 3, July 22 - 26, 2024: Drawing, Painting and 3-D Birdhouses
Students entering grades 1 - 4
The theme for this week will be creativity inspired by nature and wildlife, both real and imaginary! Kids will develop drawing and observation skills as they work in pencil and pastel to depict birds and animals in their habitats, including wildlife from Magnuson Park. View a range of art styles from Leonardo da Vinci to Alexander Calder to see how artists used line, shape and color to create unique interpretations of animals. Students will explore color, pattern and composition as they create their own wildlife painting on canvas. Our final project will engage kids in creating a special home for birds as they paint a bold design inspired by modern masters on a wooden birdhouse.
